AWS Community Day Romania 2026
I presented at AWS Community Day Romania. What an awesome event with over 300 attendees. I also helped lead a roundtable and a few workshops. This is my first time in Romania, and Timișoara was beautiful.
Presentation
I started off the event with a presentation discussing what we have learned about rolling out agentic coding tools.
Agentic coding at Amazon - Lessons from Amazon and our customers - AI coding assistants are transforming software development, but adopting them effectively requires more than just giving developers access to new tools. Drawing on real-world experience from rollout to Amazon’s internal developers and AWS’ external customers, this session shares practical lessons on what actually works when scaling agentic coding across an organization.
I met a bunch of great people at the Q&A after the presentation.
Roundtable
Next, I helped facilitate a roundtable discussion with Andra Somesan and Radu Minea.
Augmented, Not Replaced: How AI Is Reshaping Tech Roles - AI is no longer a future concept - it’s already sitting in your IDE, your backlog, your architecture diagrams and your job descriptions. The question is no longer “Will AI change my job?” - it already has. The real question is: “Are you evolving fast enough to stay ahead of it?”
Workshops
Then, I supported a couple of workshops with Adrian Bere, Dumitru Pascu, Dionysios Kakaletris, and Thomas Wieger.
Building with Kiro and Strands: A Spec-Driven Approach to Agentic AI - This hands-on workshop teaches you to leverage natural language prompts, structured specifications and intelligent automation using Kiro and Strands Agents SDK. Master five core capabilities: Vibe Coding, Steering, Model Context Protocol, Spec-Driven Development and Agent Hooks.
Diving Deep into AWS DevOps Agent - AWS DevOps Agent is a frontier AI agent that autonomously investigates, resolves, and prevents operational incidents across distributed cloud applications. The agent leverages advanced natural language processing to conduct real-time root cause analysis by correlating data across metrics, logs, traces, and deployment events from Amazon CloudWatch, third-party observability platforms and open-source tools.
Finally, I had time to socialize with the AWS Heroes and community builders: Gunnar Grosch, Thorsten Hoeger, Markus Ostertag, Anahit Pogosova, Guilherme Dalla Rosa, and Chris Dobson. And I still found a few hours to see the city.
All in all, a fantastic few days. I love Central and Eastern Europe, and every trip makes me want to see more of it. Looking forward to the next chance to come back.
